Bwari (FCT), Dec.21, 2017 (NAN) The Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Mr Musa Dikko said the council would leave no stone unturned in improving living condition of Kubwa  residents.

According to him, the council is working hard to provide infrastructure such as modern markets, as well as ensure the regular evacuation of refuse to keep the environment clean.

Dikko made the pledge while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the ground breaking for Byazhin Model Market in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The chairman said that the council was working round the clock to meet the needs of the people in the various communities, while reiterating its efforts to establish more model markets in 2018.

Dikko, who also spoke on the sanitary status of Kubwa town, said that the council, in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), was able to clear long standing dump sites which poised a threat to the community.

“There has been this refuse dump along 2-1 axis that lasted over 10 years; it was life threatening that residents had to move away from the area.

“Another one by the expressway stayed as long as 15 years, and the one close to my house lasted for 16 years, but all these are no more.

“We sent our memos, the Ministry acknowledged, evacuation commenced and today I stand to really appreciate what the ministry has done for this council.’’

NAN reports  that the Byazhin Model Market design comprises four main blocks of shops, offices, warehouses, clinics, banks and ATM facilities among others.

The council chairman also said plans were ongoing to inaugurate an electronics market in Jan., 2018.

According to Dikko, the market, which is situated at Dawaki, a suburb in the area council, will comprise assorted and high quality electronics. (NAN)
