Recruitment
By Adedeji Egbebi
Ado-Ekiti, Dec. 12, 2017 (NAN) The Head Coach of Ekiti United FC, Olusegun Adelakun, on Tuesday assured their fans that he would recruit intelligent, creative and versatile footballers for the 2018 Nigerian Nationwide League season.
Adelakun, who gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti, said the team’s midfield and attack would be strengthened with creative players.
He said the recruitment would commence on Dec. 12 and that interested footballers were expected to visit Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti to participate in the screening.
Adelakun explained that the team’s performance last season was not encouraging because the midfielders and attackers were not sharp and creative in scoring and in making accurate passes.
“My focus and determination in the screening is to recruit creative, versatile and intelligent footballers into the team.
“Specially, I want to strengthen our attack and midfield because most of the matches we lost last season were due to the strikers and midfielders’ inability to penetrate the defence of opponents,’’ he told NAN.
The coach said the training camp of the club had been refurbished to a standard and conducive arena for all the footballers who would be playing for the club next season.
He, however, appealed to the fans of the club not to relent in supporting the team to enable it to excel in the 2018 league.
NAN reports that the 2018 Nationwide League One (NLO) where Ekiti United will be playing is expected to kick-off by March next year.
Also, a five-man committee to review the league’s rules and regulations ahead of the new season has been constituted.
Members of the committee are Aliyu Kassim (Chairman), Bayo Olanlege, Yahaya Mohammad and Sule Abdullahi, while Olushola Ogunnowo is to serve as Secretary. (NAN)
