Ile-Ife (Osun), Dec.  12, 2017 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Tuesday ordered the remand in prison of one Sodiq Adewale.

Adewale, 21, is standing trial on a one-count charge of murder.

His plea was not taken while the Magistrate,  Risikat Olayemi,  held that her court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the capital offence related case.

Olayemi, however,  directed  the Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi, to send a copy of the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The magistrate adjourned the case till Jan. 23, 2018, for receipt of  legal  advice.

Earlier, the Prosecutor  had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov.  30  at about 10:10 am at New Buka, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi told the court that  the accused unlawfully caused the death of   one Omoboriowo Olufemi after hitting him with his fist.

He said the offence contravened Sections 316 (1) and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. (NAN)
