Abuja, Dec. 7, 2017 (NAN) Nigeria’s domestic carrier, Air Peace on Thursday began daily flight operations on the Abuja-Uyo-Abuja route.

The inaugural flight, a Boeing 737 aircraft with registration number 5N-BRN, took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 9.30 a.m. and landed at the Ibom Airport, Uyo at 10.26 a.m.

The airline’s Communications Manager, Mr Chris Iwarah, said the new flights would complement its Lagos-Uyo-Lagos service.

Iwarah said the commencement of the flight was in response to the yearnings of air travelers for on-time, consistent and reliable flights on the Abuja-Uyo-Abuja route.

According to him, it will afford air travelers more options to choose from when making their business and leisure trips, especially during the yuletide.

Speaking on the development, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom, Obong Victor Attah, commended Air Peace for giving the people more options.

Attah expressed optimism that the route would be very viable for the airline, adding that the number of passengers from Uyo to Abuja on the inaugural flight was impressive.

Another passenger, Dr Mohammed Leki, said the move would create healthy competition between Air Peace and Dana Air, which had been operating on the route.

He said that this would be beneficial to the travelling public because they would be able to plan their movement according to their convenience.

On her part, Mrs Nne Agbamuchegwu, a businesswoman, said she was excited about the development.

“I am excited about it because I had already booked a flight with Air Peace to go to Calabar and from there go by road to Uyo.

So it’s such good news that I can go directly to Uyo; it is just wonderful.

“Air Peace is always on time and I am happy that they go to Uyo and I wish them all the best,’’ she said.

The passenger noted that having more connecting flights between Uyo and Abuja would have a positive impact on the economy of the state, including attracting more investors. (NAN)
