Minna, Nov. 30, 2017 (NAN) Sheikh Ibrahim Fari, the Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, on Thursday, urged Muslims to demonstrate the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad in their daily affairs.
He made the call in Minna, against the backdrop of the Eid el-Maulud celebration, the Prophet’s birthday, observed by Muslims the world over on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ Al-Awwal.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Mecca, a city in Saudi Arabia in the year 570 of the Gregorian calendar.
Muslims celebrate Eid el-Maulud by donating food and other goods to charity throughout the month and listen to or read out poems about events that occurred during the Prophet’s life time.
Fari told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that “love for one another, irrespective of religion, tribal and ethnic differences as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet during his life time would enhance peaceful coexistence in the country .”
He explained that the prophet’s lifestyle made Islam a religion of peace and good neighbourliness throughout the world.
He said “time has come for Nigerians to show more love to one another, irrespective of tribe, religion, ethnic and political differences.
“God has reason for bringing different tribes, religions and backgrounds to live together just like Nigeria. We should love one another to enable us to use
the vast human and mineral resources at our disposal.”
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to live as family and desist from inflammatory statements that could jeopardise the nation’s unity.
He urged Muslims to take advantage of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad to pray for God’s intervention in the nation’s affairs. (NAN)
