Showcasing Korean culture will enhance better interaction, understanding-Official

Abuja, Nov. 29, 2017 (NAN) Mr Han Sungrae, Director, Korean Cultural Centre, Abuja says the monthly showcase of that country’s culture, will enhance better cultural interaction and understanding between Nigerians and Koreans.

Sungrae made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said Nigeria and Republic of Korea were blessed with rich cultural heritage adding that it the two countries would benefit positively, if cultural interaction was enhanced.

“We will pick one aspect of Korean Culture to showcase to Nigerians monthly; it can be from the Korean entertainment industry, Fashion, arts, Foods and many others.

“We will also seek greater involvement in the major cultural activities in the Nigeria.

“This will go a long way to enhance better cultural relationship.

“Already, the Korean Cultural Centre has availed a lot of Nigerians the opportunity to learn a lot about Korean history and culture direct participation and education” Sungrae said.

He said that the recent premiered Korean movie “Train to Busan” for free in Abuja was to showcase the latest works in the Korean Movie industry to Nigerians

He explained that the movie was about Seok-woo, a fund manager who was not able to spend quality time with his daughter, Su-an.

“On the eve of her birthday he plans to travel with her to visit his separated wife who lives in Busan to make it up to her (Su-an).

“Their co-passengers on board the Korean High-speed rail from Seoul to Busan include people from different walks of life.

“The train departs and the journey starts with the arrival of a woman who does not seem normal at the first glance.

“With a bite wound on her leg, she definitely seems infected by the zombies. Immediately this woman turns into a zombie too.

“She infected so many people and in the process of saving his daughter, Su-an from being infected by one of the zombies, he was also infected.

“Seok-woo plead with a fellow uninfected female passenger Seong-kyeong to take care of his daughter and commits suicide by falling off the train to prevent others from getting bitten by him.

“Finally, there are two survivors at the end of the blocked tunnel who walk through it and are spotted by soldiers.

“The soldiers question if they are survivors or zombies as the vision is not too clear. But just when they are about to fire, they hear Su-an singing beside Seong-kyeong.

“She continues to sing while they are rescued from this unforgettable journey on the train to Busan, ” Sungrae said.

He reiterated that the monthly showcase would not be restricted to movies alone, but other aspects of Korean Culture adding that the centre would also involve in cultural activities in the Nigeria. (NAN)
