FG releases over N200m for capital projects at FMC Keffi – Director

Keffi (Nasarawa State), Nov. 20, 2017 (NAN) Federal Medical Centre, Keffi in Nasarawa State on Monday in Keffi said Federal Government released  over N200 million to it for the execution of capital projects from 2015 to 2016.

The Medical Director, Dr Giyan Joshua, made this known in a budget performance report for capital projects 2015 and 2016 fiscal year issued to the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) members that visited the centre to inspect projects.

Joshua, who commended government for the attention it gave to the development of the health sector through provision of fund, called for its sustenance.

He said capital cash released to the centre in 2015 was N106,127,100, while capital cash released and utilized in 2016 was N105,458,068, totalling more than N200 million during the period under review.

He added that in 2015, the centre used the money for the supply and installation of solar energy, expansion of medical laboratory and mortuary and construction of physiotherapy, dental and opthermology departments.

The director said that in 2016, N105.45million was released and used in the ongoing construction of burnt administrative block.

He also disclosed to the members of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission that he had executed many capital projects which have direct bearing on the lives and health of the people.

He said “the Electronic Medical Records (EMR), 200-KVA solar powers, modern mortuary that can house up to 60 corpses with autopsy facilities are among the laudable projects I executed which have direct bearing on the standard and health status of Nigerians.”

The medical director reiterated the commitment of the management of the centre to continue to improve on the welfare of its staff and patients.

Earlier, Mr Samson Eletuo, the Head, Finance and Account of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) said the team was at the centre to inspect projects executed by the management.

He said members were impressed with the quality of work executed and ongoing projects at the centre and called for its sustenance.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Dantani Mohammed and Shehu Sani, the Deputy Directors, Budget, Account of the Federal Ministry of Health, Charles Abana, Head, Legal, Investigation and Enforcement department of  the Fiscal Responsibility Commission were also in attendance during the inspection.
