Man, 28, docked over alleged theft of plastic chairs worth N67,300

Ile-Ife (Osun), Nov. 15, 2017 (NAN) A 28-year-old man, Edward Sunday, was on Wednesday docked before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, for allegedly stealing 24 pieces of plastic chairs valued at N67, 300.
Sunday, of no fixed address, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, house breaking and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 7, 2017 about 10:15 a.m. at Motherland Group of Schools, Iyana-Oluwa, Safejo, Abiri-Ogudu Road, Ile-Ife, Osun.
Abdullahi said that the accused unlawfully entered the premises of Motherland Group of Schools, owned by one Bosede Onabanjo, and carted away 24 pieces of plastic chairs valued at N67,300.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 383, 390 (9), 414 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Obi Samuel, applied for his bail in the most liberal terms and pledged that the accused would not jump bail.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ijiyode said that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and one of them must be a civil servant and produce three years’ tax clearance.
He added that the addresses of the sureties should be verified by the prosecutor and the case was adjourned until Dec. 8, for hearing. (NAN)
