2019: Group urges eligible voters to register in Nasarawa state

Nassarawa Eggon (Nasarawa state) Nov.14,2017 (NAN)The Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) has urged eligible voters in Nasarawa State to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration(CVR) to register.

The National President of the association, Mr James Manza,  made the call on Tuesday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the call was necessary so as to enable them exercise their franchise in the upcoming general elections.

He noted that the importance of voter cards could not be over-emphasised to the socio-economic development of the country, stressing the need for for the clarion  call.

According to him, it is the only weapon the electorate can use to elect leaders of their choice in the country.

“This Association was formed in order to preach and promote peace and unity among Eggon people and other ethnic nationalities considering the importance of peace and unity to the development of any society.

“Peace is priceless, non-negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any nation, hence the need for Nigerians to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.

“I also want to use this medium to call on Eggon people and other Nigerians who are yet to have their voter cards to go and register with INEC on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in their interest and for national interest.

“It is a good thing for them as patriotic Nigerians to be part of this exercise because without voter card, how will one vote and be voted for apart from other benefits of the voter cards,” he said.

Manza also advised the members of the association and Nigerians against double registration, adding that the ongoing CVR is for only those that are yet to get their voters card or turn 18 years this year.

He further called on the people of the state to support government policies and programmes in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

Manza urged the Eggon people and the people of the state to continue to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and shun all negative acts in the interest of peace and national development.

The ECDA National President restated the commitment of the association to continue to key in to good policies and programmes that have direct bearing on the lives of the members of the association and Nigeria at large.(NAN)
