Nasarawa govt building over 400 classroom blocks, says Commissioner

Keffi (Nasarawa state) Nov.10, 2017(NAN) The Nasarawa State Government is constructing over 400 classroom blocks in primary and secondary schools to enhance access to education, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Aliyu Tijjani, has said.
Tijjani said in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Keffi that the project was being executed with grant received from the Universal Basic Education Commission.
“It is to create an enabling environment for learning and teaching in line with the philosophy of the administration of Gov. Tanko Al-makura,” he said.
According to him, the government has provided funds for the execution of other projects to raise the standard of education in the state.
“Everybody in the state can testify that Al-makura’s commitment in the education sector has changed and improved the standard of education in the state positively
“He has embarked on the construction, rehabilitation and fencing of schools across the state, built new model schools, and hostels in tertiary institutions, and provided needed infrastructure and facilities in schools.”
Tijjani therefore called on stakeholders in the education sector to support the government in its efforts to transform the sector.
The commissioner pledged that the administration would continue to initiate projects and programmes that would impact positively on the lives of the people.
He enjoined people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation. (NAN)
