Dadingel (Yobe) Oct.24, 2017 (NAN) The Yobe Government on Tuesday, distributed building materials and cash to 243 households in Dadingel village for them to rebuild their houses destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.
The Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, inaugurated the distribution of the materials in Dadingel village, Gujba Local Government Area of the state.
Gaidam, who was represented by his deputy, Abubakar Aliyu, said the gesture was also to facilitate the resettlement of the victims.
The materials are: 1,741 bundles of zinc, 40,000 pieces of blocks, 7,445 bags of cement, nails and wood among others.
Gaidam said every household would also be supported with N50, 000 to provide for labour of the reconstruction.
“They will be provided with N30, 000 for take-off and a balance of N20, 000 as work progresses” he said.
The governor said the beneficiaries were provided with option of re-building their houses according to their taste and culture.
He said government would not compel any internally displaced person to return to his or her community.
According to Gaidam, the IDPs are allowed to go back to their communities willingly, adding that those who chose to settle in their new environment were free while those who chose to move out of the state were also covered by freedom of choice.(NAN)
