Resident doctors’ offer free medical services in Akwanga

Rinze (Nasarawa State), Oct. 24, 2017 (NAN) The National Association of Resident Doctors, Nasarawa State chapter, has provided free medical services to over 350 residents of Akwanga West Development Area of the state.
The branch Chairman of the association, Dr Emmanuel Meshi, said this on Tuesday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Rinze, Akwanga.
NAN reports that the free medical services involved medical examination, counselling, consultancy services and drug administration, among others.
He said that the association decided to offer the free medical services to the residents in order to improve the living standard of the people for the overall development of the state.
“We offered free medical services to the residents of this area so as to enable them benefit from the programme without paying because a healthy nation is a wealthy nation,” he said.
Meshi called on the people to take their health seriously by going for regular medical check-up.
He commended the state government for the support accorded them through the Deputy Governor, Mr Silas Agara.
He pledged the commitment of the association to continue with the good health programmes as it has direct bearing on the lives of the people.
Also speaking, the Chun-Ngah (traditional ruler) of the community, Alhaji Adamu Amwe, commended the association for organising the free medical outreach.
Amwe, a second class traditional ruler, said that the gesture would go a long way in improving the health of the people and called for its sustenance.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Bulus Danjuma, lauded the association for the gesture.
He urged the doctors to make the exercise a regular one, adding that the community will forever be grateful to them.
Similarly, Mr Sule Amwe, another beneficiary, said that the gesture would go a long way in improving the lives of both the young and old who benefitted from the exercise.
He said that if not for the intervention of the medical practitioners some of them may not have the opportunity to buy some of the drugs administered on them.
