Lagos, Oct. 24, 2017 (NAN) An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday granted N1 million bail to two persons standing trial for conspiracy and receipt of stolen property.
The accused persons: Ismaila Ibrahim. 46 and Joy Emehi, 40, were also told to produce two sureties in like sum.
The two had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, the police prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometimes in May at Km 45, Lekki Epe Expressway, Sangotedo.
He said that the accused and others, still at large, dishonestly received armoured cables, generator sets, steel poles, refrigerators, washing machines, television sets and machinery belonging to Lara Ademola, a lawyer.
The prosecutor said that the total value of the goods which were stolen was put at N34 million.
The offences contravene Sections 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, adjourned the case till Nov. 29, for hearing. (NAN)
