Loads
Lagos, Oct. 23, 2017 (NAN) A 24-year-old load carrier, Abdulhayu Gomni, on Monday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly bolting with customer’s loads worth N350, 000.
Gomni, who is facing a theft charge, however, pleaded innocent to the offence.
The prosecutor, ASP Richard Odigie, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 20 at about 6:30 p.m at Carlos Plaza, Lagos Island.
Odigie said that the accused ran away with 35 bundles of materials valued at N350, 000 belonging to Stanley Oforma.
According to the prosecutor, Gomni was hired to carry 35 bundles of materials from the point of purchase to the motor park for a customer, but disappeared with the loads.
He said that the complainant was able to recognise the accused when he came back to Lagos to buy goods, following which the accused was apprehended.
Odigie said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years imprisonment, if found guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs F. O. Ikobayo, granted the accused of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ikobayo, however, adjourned the case until Nov. 1 for mention. (NAN)
