Lagos, Oct. 20, 2017 (NAN) Some of the coaches at the ongoing World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) clinic in Lagos on Friday lauded the body for organising the programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 40 coaches drawn from different parts of the country are participating in the programme at the National Stadium Lagos.

The programme which began on Oct. 18 and ended on Oct. 20, was handle by three WBSC instructors from Italy and the U.S.

Jacob Dede, Head Coach of Rivers State Baseball and Softball team, said the programme had impacted positively on his coaching skills.

“We are grateful to the world body for this programme, we have learnt a lot and I intend to put it into practice,’’ he said.

Musa Sani from Abuja said that the train-the-trainer programme was timely owing to the increased participation in baseball and softball at the grassroots.

“This clinic came at the right time because baseball and softball is gaining momentum at the grassroots more children are showing interest in the sport.

“This programme will assist coaches to hone the skills of young players in the sport,’’ he said.

Similarly, Magnus Ike, a Lagos State-based coach, said that knowledge gained from the programme would guide coaches in their duty.

Ike, who is also the Director of Baseline Baseball and Softball Foundation, urged the WBSC to organise more of such programmes.

“Baseball and softball is evolving and as coaches, we are expected to move with the trend to be at par with the rest of the world,’’ he said.

In the same vein, Kunle Ajayi, the coach of Owena Baseball and Softball Club of Akure, also commended the WBSC for the capacity building programme.

Ajayi urged the body not to relent in its effort at developing the sport in Nigeria. (NAN)
