Minna, Oct. 11, 2017 (NAN) Malam Bashir Yankuzu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, on Wednesday called on the Federal Government to subsidise the cost of farming implements for youths, to ensure food sufficiency in Nigeria.
Yankuzu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna that encouraging unemployed youths in farming would create employment and ensure a reduction in social vices in the country .
He said that mobilising youths into farming would also promote peaceful coexistence and economic growth, noting that lack of employment among the youth was responsible for the insecurity in some parts of the country.
“I strongly suggest to the three tiers of government to provide the required farming implements for our youths at subsidised rates, for the overall development of the agriculture sector. ” (NAN)
