Lagos, Oct. 5, 2017 (NAN ) A 37-year-old sales representative, Adeyemi Sunday, who allegedly stole his employer’s goods worth N77,980, was on Thursday hauled up before an lkeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos .
Sunday, a resident of Matogun area of Ogun, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 30 at Gate 5, Ladipo Oluwole Street, Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja.
Eruada said the accused, who an employee of the complainant, Mr Owolabi Adeleke, was asked to deliver some goods worth N77, 980 to a customer, but stole the goods and disappeared.
“He is a sales representative with Multi-Pro Consumer Products Ltd with the responsibility of delivery goods.
“All efforts to recover the items were unsuccessful,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section prescribes seven years jail term for stealing by clerks and servants.
Sunday entered a plea of `not guilty’ to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowoshe, in her ruling, granted him bail in the sum of N70, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 29 for mention. (NAN)
