Lagos, Sept. 20, 2017 (NAN) A 27-year-old sales representative, Adebola Abdulwasiu, who allegedly stole his employer’s N300, 000, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

‎Abdulwasiu, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count-charge of stealing and fraud.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, told the court that the accused committed the offences between March 13 and May 5 at Adamore Nigeria Ltd in Ikeja.

Imhonwa said the accused collected some goods from his employer and failed to deliver them to the customers who requested for them.

“He sold off the goods and converted the money to his own use instead of remitting it into the company’s account.
‎

“When his employer found out that the accused had failed to remit the money, he reported the matter to the police and he was arrested,’’ he said.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).‎

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 provides a three-year jail term for stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of M100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi said the sureties should be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of tax payments to Lagos State
Government.‎

She adjourned the case until Nov. 30 for trial. (NAN)
