Lafia, Sept. 18, 2017 (NAN) The traditional ruler of Kwandere in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Almakura, has urged Eggon community and Nigerians at large, to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliation.

He said such virtues would attract speedy development in the country.

Almakura gave the advice in Lafia on Monday while receiving a delegation of Eggon Community from Lafia Local Government Area of the state that visited him.

Almakura expressed delight at the visit, adding that it would go a long way to strengthen the bond of friendship and harmonious relationship among the Eggon, Kwandara and other tribes in the state.

The first class traditional ruler, who is the Chairman, Lafia North Development Area Traditional Council, said peace was a catalyst for the development of every society.

“As custodians of people’s culture and peace, it’s our role to advise our subjects and other Nigerians on the need to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.

“Peace is priceless, non negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any nation or society as no society will achieve meaningful progress without peace.

“We must shun all negative acts capable of threatening the existing peace for the country to move to greater heights and in the interest of development,“ he said.

He also called on the people of the state to give maximum support to leaders at all levels, to enable them to succeed in the task ahead of them.

The traditional ruler promised to engage Eggon stakeholders to initiate proactive ideas that would forestall any break down of law and order in the state in the interest of peace and national development.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Sunday Namo, said that the visit was to facilitate with the monarch for his successful Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Namo said that it was also to appreciate him for promoting peace in Lafia North and across communities in the state and called for its sustenance.
