Kafanchan (Kaduna) Oct.19, 2016 (NAN) People displaced by communal clashes in Godogodo, Jema’a Local Government of Kaduna State, on Wednesday urged the Federal Government to set up an Internally Displaced Persons camp, to accommodate victims of the crisis.
They made the call in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kafanchan.
Mr Maryam Gandu, a victim at Unguwar Afri, Kaninkon, who expressed worry over their plight, noted that his family was presently squatting in an already crowded house in Kafanchan.
“The situation has exposed my family of six to hunger, aside from their inability to attend school.”
Another displaced person, Mr Monday Shagaya from Zankan Kogo, said the provision of the camp would enable the government to pay proper attention to their plight.
Shagaya said “we need serious government presence and attention here.
“The suffering here is huge but we believe that the setting up of the camps will enable us access assistance from government, individuals and corporate bodies.”
NAN reports that communal clashes had led to the death of several people in the area over the last two months with properties worth millions of naira destroyed. (NAN)
