Lagos, Aug. 30, 2017(NAN) A 27-year-old unemployed man, Temidayo Olonimoyo, who allegedly broke into his former employer’s shop to steal goods worth N304,000, has appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Olonimoyo, whose address is unknown, is being tried for burglary and stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offences on Aug. 16 at 4. 00 a.m. at Agege, Lagos.

He said the accused burgled the shop of his ex-employer, Mr Ganiyu Ogungbaye, and stole goods valued at N304,000.

“The accused broke into the complainant’s shop and stole printing ink, nylon rolls and chemicals.”

Ayorinde said the accused, who was sacked in February for stealing the complainant’s printing materials, came again to steal.

“The accused, who was sacked in February for always stealing the complainant’s goods, came in July to steal some goods with the spare key which the complainant forgot to collect from him.

“The complainant changed the keys to the shop but unfortunately when the accused came and discovered that the keys to the shop had been changed, he broke in and carted away the goods,” he told the court.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 310 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both sections prescribe three years jail term for offenders.

The accused pleaded innocence of the offences and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.J. Awope said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until Sept. 18 for mention. (NAN)
