Kano, Aug. 28, 2017 (NAN) Barely 48 hours before the commencement of the 2017 Hajj rites in Saudi Arabia, the Chairman, Max Air Ltd, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, has directed the airline to use two aircraft to airlift some stranded pilgrims in Kano and Abuja.
The Airline’s Public Relations Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru, confirmed the development in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Monday.
Dahiru, who is currently in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, said the gesture was out of the chairman’s benevolence to the stranded intending pilgrims to enable them perform the 2017 Hajj.
“The Chairman directed that two of the aircraft be used to transport the stranded intending pilgrims as the airline had secured landing slots for the aircraft.
“There are close to 1,000 affected intending pilgrims presently in Nigeria due to inability by their designated carriers to airlift them.
“As I am talking to you now the aircraft will depart Nigeria tonight with the intending pilgrims and land in the Holy Land Tuesday morning,” the spokesman said.
He said the affected pilgrims were expected to arrive at the King Abdulazeez International Airport, Jeddah, by Tuesday morning. (NAN)
