Abuja, Aug. 24, 2017 (NAN) Action Democratic Party (ADP), one of the newly registered political parties, has said that it is fielding a reputable candidate to contest and win the forthcoming Anamabra governorship election.
Alhaji Najeem Awodele, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, stated this on Thursday in Abuja while presenting its expression of interest and nomination forms to Dr Ifeanyi Okonkwo to contest the election slated for Nov. 18.
He said Okonkwo was going into the election not to add to the number of aspirants, but to win, saying that he was a household name in Anambra politics.
Awodele, who was a former Minister of Agriculture, added that the electorate were tired of moneybags politicians who according to him, had not impacted on their lives.
He stressed that what the people needed now, was discipline and principled politicians, saying that with time, the party would contest elections in other states of the federation.
He maintained that the ADP was an alternative party to Nigerians following the failure of existing political parties.
´´We have the chemistry to rebuild and bring about a new Nigeria, we do not believe in procrastination, we want to do it now and we want to do it well,´´Awodele said.
He added that the party may not have notable political big wigs as members, but had men and women of integrity in its fold that could bring about a new Nigeria.
Okonkwo in his response, expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious at the Anambra election.
“By God’s permission, it will be your candidate versus others, ADP is a political machine that will rebuild Nigeria.
´´We are looking for men and women not money, we will fight corruption and bring social justice to the country,´´ he said (NAN)
