Man, 22, arraigned for allegedly stealing N9, 000 generator, gets N5, 000 bail

Lagos, Aug. 14, 2017 (NAN) A man, Ibrahim Aminu, who allegedly stole a N9,000 generator popularly known as “I-better-pass-my-neighbour”,  was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

He was, however, released on a bail of N5, 000.

The accused is facing a charge of stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

Police Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 13 at 5.00 a.m. at No. 2, Austin Nwanu St., Orile-Iganmu.

Iseghede said the accused stole a small Tiger generator from a house early in the morning, property of the complainant, Abibu Saka.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be sentenced to three years imprisonment on conviction, according to the provisions of the section.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Salawu, admitted the accused to a bail of N5, 000, also granted him one surety in like sum.

The case has been adjourned until Aug. 25 for mention. (NAN)
