Seamaster ITTF: France, Romania for men’s doubles final

Lagos, Aug. 12, 2017 (NAN) Romanian Rares Silos and Alexandru Cazacu say they are ready for a showdown against France in the final of men’s doubles of the ongoing Seamaster International Table Tennis Federation competition.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Romanians defeats India duo of Shetty Sanil and Gandhi Sarthat by 3-0 in the first semi-final match of the tournament.

France Harchard Antoine and Jean Gregoire humbled Egyptian El-Beiali Mohammed and Salah Ahmed by 3-2 in the second semi-final match played at Molade Okoya-Thomas Sports Hall, Lagos.

Silos said he was delighted to be in the final alongside his partner, adding that the finals would be a cracker.

Also in the women’s doubles, Egyptian Dina Meshref and Helmy Yousra narrowly defeated Nigeria Cecilia Akpan and Janet Effiom by 3-0 in first semi-final match play.

Hungary Balint Bernadett and Pergel Szandra also defeated Egyptian Abdel-Aziz Fatah and YousryAmira by 3-0 to book a place in the final.

Balint, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the match, said she and her partner would deliver in the final against the Egyptians.

“This is the first competition I will be playing alongside Szandra and we are both delighted to make it to the final,’’ she said.

NAN reports that the finals of the men’s and women’s doubles event would hold on Aug. 13; the final day of the competition that began on Aug. 9. with 22 countries participating.(NAN)
