Man, 29, faces break-in, N30, 000 motorcycle parts theft

Lagos, Aug. 10, 2017 (NAN) A 29-year-old man, Bashiru Bello, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing motorcycle parts valued at N30,000.

Bello, who resides in Kantagowa area of Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.

Sgt. Ishola Samuel, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 23 at Hassan Makinde Street, Abule-Egba, a Lagos suburb.

He said the accused entered the shop of the complainant, Anu Ajani, and stole motorcycle parts valued at N30, 000.

“Ajani received a telephone call, informing him that Bello had stolen the items and had been caught.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section prescribes a three-year jail term for offenders.

The Magistrate, Miss A.R. Onilogbo, in her ruling, admitted the accused to a bail of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Onilogbo said the surety, who should be a blood relation of the accused, should also show evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 17 for mention. (NAN)
