Abuja, Aug. 7, 2017 (NAN) Mr Menayin Dele, the producer of a new movie, “Mudsling At Every Execuse’’, says the movie is an educational piece produced to address the pressure African women face due to infertility.
Dele made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
“What we want to achieve with the story is to correct an impression that women alone are responsible for infertility in their marriages.
“It is true that an average African man believes that in as much as he can have an erection and ejaculate, he is not responsible in case of childlessness in a marriage.
“Apart from that, it is an educational movie about infertility; it is also woman advocacy stuff because in most cases of infertility, the accusing finger is pointed at the woman.
“In the African context, family pressure from all angles is on the woman and even when somehow the man is at fault, the man’s ego will make him not to go for a check-up,’’ he said.
Dele said that the movie also attempted to address issues relating to spiritual and religious beliefs on infertility and the need to go for counselling and check-up.
He said that the producers would partner with the Ministry of Health, Women Affairs and some pharmaceutical companies and fertility centres on the project.
According to Dele, the movie script is ready for a public presentation on Wednesday at a conference in Abuja
“We are also trusting God that this movie will be premiered in some tourism-based African countries like South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana and Morocco, so that we can get large viewership and be promoted.
“Veteran actors and stakeholders in fertility will be around, so the script will be read and whatever adjustment that needed to be made will be made and we will go into sponsorship deal and start production,’’ Dele said. (NAN)
