Lagos,Aug 7, 2017(NAN) An NGO, Generation Next, has advised Nigerian youths to use the opportunities provided by the nation’s economy to succeed in their chosen fields as entrepreneurs.
The president of the NGO, Mr Ron Luce, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that contemporary economic challenges needed pragmatic ideas that would take advantage of global innovations to succeed.
“Economic problems exist; but I do not want to believe they can refrain anyone from succeeding.’’
He said that despite parading several degrees from world renowned tertiary institutions, he had realized that one did not need a degree to become a successful entrepreneur.
“I have learnt a lot about entrepreneurship.
“However, you really do not need a university degree to become successful. You can attend the University of Google from your mobile phones to learn all you need to become successful great,” he said.
According to him, youths need mentoring to enable them in their bid to live their dreams and develop their potential for economic growth and development.
Luce told NAN that tutoring and investing in young people would help the society to reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty.
He advised leaders to develop strategies that would inspire young people to become innovators and agents of change wherever they find themselves.
“Our aim in Generation Next is to build young minds that will rise beyond limits and maximize their potential.
“They should become pillars that will bring hope for the future by creating jobs and bringing financial prosperity to their communities.
“We need to understand that Jesus is the solution. All through the bible, he inspired his followers who in turn proffered solutions to those connected to them and their communities,” he said.
He said that the greatness of a nation was dependent on the zeal of the young generation to break from the norm and learn how to add value to the society.
“Only hungry people look inwards to birth ideas that make them stand out as entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship is the best way to add value to society.
“We are in the world for a unique purpose but if we are not tutored on how to actualise our dreams, then there will not be any form of development.
“If we are guided, we can create those ideas, emerge as employers of labour rather than waiting to be employed,” he said.
NAN reports that Ron Luce will host 20million youths at the Jesus Global Youth Day (#JesusGYD) in the Philippines in 2019.(NAN)
