Dutse, July 26, 2017 (NAN) Alhaji Magaji Da’u, a member of the House of Representatives, has sponsored eye surgeries for 1,000 visually impaired persons in his Birnin-Kudu/Buji constituency in Jigawa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise was conducted simultaneously in Birnin-Kudu and Buji Local Governments, between July 21 and July 24.
Da’u, while briefing newsmen on the exercise on Wednesday in Dutse, said that patients from Birnin-Kudu were treated at the Birnin-Kudu General Hospital, while those from Buji went to Gantsa Comprehensive Centre.
The lawmaker, who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Murtala Isah, said that most of the surgeries were carried out to remove cataract and other minor eye ailments.
Da’u said that he was moved to assist the patients after discovering that many of them were losing their sights because of minor eye diseases that could easily be treated.
He advised the beneficiaries to comply with directives given by surgeons after the exercise, to ensure speedy and proper healing. (NAN)
