Abuja, July 25, 2017 (NAN) A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a security guard, Ibrahim Isa, to 10 months imprisonment for stealing.
Isa of no fix address was arraigned on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The accused confessed to committing the crime and pleaded for mercy.
The judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado, convicted the accused on both charges, but gave him an option of fine of N14, 000.
Ado also ordered Isa to compensate the complainant with the sum of N100, 000 or return the stolen property.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mrs Judith Obatomi, had told the court that one Abdulrahaman Mohammed of Daki-biyu village, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station on July 20.
Obatomi said that Isa, sometime in June, broke the padlock of a container at a site and stole grinding generator, iron fence and iron range, all valued at N127, 000.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 346 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
