2 men in court over alleged burglary, stealing

Lagos, July 25, 2017 (NAN) Two men who allegedly burgled a shop and stole some plumbing materials, valued at N202,000, were on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The defendants- Godspower Ifeanyichukwu, 29, and Onyekachi Orji, 37, both tillers and resident of Abule Egba Road, a Lagos suburb , were docked on a two-count charge of conspiracy and burglary.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the offences were committed on July 20 at Lagos Abeokuta Express way, Lagos.
Ajebe said that at midnight, the accused persons burgled a shop owned by one Chukwuebuka Obi, and stole some plumbing materials valued at N202, 000.
“They were caught by the vigilance group and they were apprehended,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, while the Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Komolafe adjourned the case until Aug. 16 for mention. (NAN)
