Lagos, July 16, 2017 (NAN) Mrs Saidat Otulana, Director, Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture (LSCAC),has advised Nigerians to tap from the therapeutic nature of good music by cultivating the habit of listening to it.
Otulana said this during the Lagos Music Extravaganza, organised in commemoration of the 2017 World Music in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the World Music Day is celebrated annually on June 21.
She said that she had come to realise her that music could heal the psychological problems in the individual.
“Music is capable of transforming a sad countenance to that of excitement.’
According to her, music serves as a unifying force, speaks a single language and is the fruit of life and love.
She said that based on the above observations, everyone needed to take cognisance of it and tap from its benefits.
“I want you to know that music ministers to the soul, it calms the spirit and that is why you discover that you become happier when you listen to some good music.
“It heals all psychological wound; so I enjoin you to cultivate the habit of listening to any kind of music that soothes you,” she said.
NAN reports that some up-and-coming artists performed at the ceremony alongside the council’s dance troupe called Eko Akete.
Otulana advised the budding artists to desist from producing music with negative contents; adding that they should avoid contents depicting sex, money and nudity. (NAN)
