Lagos, July 12, 2017 (NAN)Former world champion in 400m, Amantle Montsho, will lead Botswana contingent to the 2017 edition of the Warri Relays/CAA Grand Prix.
The Media Director, Olukayode Thomas, said in a statement in Lagos that the two-time African Championships gold medalist in 400m would lead other sprinters to Warri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Montsho has won several titles in track events, including 2007 All African Games and 2010 International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) Continental Cup.

She also won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games where she the first Botswana first Gold medalist.
She has personal best times of 11.60 seconds in the 100 m, 22.89 seconds in the 200 meters and 49.33 seconds in the 400 m.
Montsho holds the national record of Botswana for 400metres both in indoors and outdoors.
She, however, failed a routine drug test after 2014 Commonwealth Games where findings revealed that the result of her `B’ sample which was also tested for positive stimulant, Methyhexaneamine.
She was handed a two-year ban by Botswana Athletics Association from the sports.
The statement said that Montsho, finalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics, also competed at the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships.
“She is a former World Champion in the 400m, winning with a personal best time of 49.56secs in Daegu.
“The Meet Director, Yussuf Alli, said the former World Champion expressed regret for missing the previous editions of the relays, especially the 2014 edition.
“She missed the event after the meet due to flight cancellation confirming participation,’’ the statement said.
It added that “secondary schools in Delta State are preparing for the annual relay where future world beaters showcase their talent to a continental and global viewers.
“Apart from global stars like Blessing Okagbare, Amantle Montsho and others, Warri Relays/CAA Grand Prix presents budding athletes from all the nooks and crannies of Delta with a platform.
“Competitions to select the best from schools across the state have been concluded and the best schools will compete for medals and cash prizes in various events,’’ the statement statement. (NAN)
