Cloudy weather, thunderstorms, rains expected on Tuesday

Abuja, July 10, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted morning localised thunderstorms over the central states, with day and night temperatures of 26 to 32 and 18 to 23 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The Weather Outlook by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office on Monday in Abuja also  predicted cloudy conditions, with prospects of thunderstorms and rains over Abuja, Lafia, Minna and Mambila in the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience morning cloudy conditions and afternoon rains over Umuahia, Owerri, Obudu and across the coastal cities.

It also predicted day and night temperatures of 27 to 31 and 20 to 24 degree Celsius.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience cloudy morning with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Sokoto, Kebbi and Gombe.

It noted that “in the afternoon/evening hours, localised thunderstorms are expected over Maiduguri, Sokoto, Kano, Katsina and Gusau, with day and night temperatures of 30 to 35 and 20 to 24 degree Celsius.

“Low temperatures and high pressure values are expected to give rise to a relatively calm day, dominated by cloudy conditions with prospects of weather activities in few cities in the next 24 hours.” (NAN)
