Abuja, Oct.13, 2016 (NAN) Some Abuja-based lawyers on Thursday commended the Federal Government and other stakeholders for ensuring the release of 21 Chibok girls by the Boko Haram.

The lawyers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews that they were indeed happy about the successful negotiation and release.

Mr Christopher Eiche, a lawyer, told NAN that it was a thing of joy, and “I am glad to be alive to witness this great day.

“It is the beginning of many more to come. I am thankful to all Nigerians who stood firm to make this possible.”

He applauded the efforts of “The Bring Back Our Girls, who were relentless, and the military, adding: ” I am grateful to Mr President”.

Another lawyer, Mrs Maureen Ajogo, said that the Federal Government had shown an act of commitment to the need of the people.

Ajogo said that the move be extended to ensure that others still with the insurgents be freed.

“What gladens my heart is that this is coming just a while after we celebrated the girl-child day.

“I see this government has its people at heart. Please, let this continue so that others will be released too.”

Also, Mr Blessing Iheanacho, told NAN that he was initially pessimistic about the release of the girls.

Iheanacho said that the move had given hope to the nation that “the impossible is possible”.

He also urged the government to look at other areas that needed urgent attention and come up with urgent solutions.

He said the Federal Government had tried in the area insecurity, but “lets ensure sustainability. We don’t want a retaliation or any form of reoccurrence but thank you Mr President.

Iheanacho urged government to do a proper examinations, medically, psychologically and so on, on these girls before handing them over to their families.

He appealed to both the families and the society not to do anything that would stigmatise the girls, adding that love and care was what they need to forget their trauma. (NAN)
