Abuja, July 9, 2017 (NAN) Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA), an NGO, says it has concluded plans to introduce literature clubs in six states of the federation.

Mr Joseph Yaba, founder of YiSHDA, who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja said the idea was to encourage young people realise their goals.

He said that the benefiting states were: Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Niger, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory.

“ We understand that young people have a tremendous deposit of unexploited knowledge and skills that can be useful to their well being, immediate community and the society at large.

“ We therefore want to provide a platform in various secondary schools across the federation where they can harness and realise their goals through educational activities.

“YiSHDA’s major areas of focus are embedded in our three pillars of operation which include:  Education for Sustainable Development Programmes, Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building and Community Development Programs,’’ he said.

Yaba said that the mission of the foundation was also to advocate for policies and programmes that had the potential to impact positively on the life of young people.

He also told NAN that the foundation was planning to initiate health clubs in non-existing schools and strengthen them in schools where they existed.

Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA) was founded in the 2010.

It is an NGO established with a definite purpose to serve as African youth platform for potential ‘’Discovery, Development, Leadership and Value Creation.’’ (NAN)
