Nasarawa Assembly mourns Maitama Sule

Keffi (Nasarawa State), July 7, 2017 (NAN) The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has joined other Nigerians in mourning the death of late Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule.

The lawmakers commiserated with the family and Kano State Government over the loss of the Danmasanin Kano, who died on Monday at a Cairo hospital.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Jibrin Gwomna.

A copy of the statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Keffi quoted the speaker, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi describing the death of Maitama not only very shocking but a great loss to the country.

Abdullahi noted the “positive contribution’’ of the deceased to the development of the Nigeria while alive.

The speaker also described the Maitama as a great asset to Nigeria, whose vacuum would hardly be filled, adding that his death is a big blow to the nation.

“The entire members of the state Assembly has received the death of the elder statesman, the Dan Mansani Kano, Late Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, with great shock and sadness but God gives life and takes at will.

“The Speaker, Principal Officers, other members and the entire staff of the House are condoling with the Kano State Government, the family and indeed the good people of Nigeria over his sudden demise as his death is heart breaking, painful.

“The late Dan Mansani Kano was very humble, honest, hardworking as well as a detribalised and a patriotic Nigerian while alive and he has contributed a lot to the development of the entire country,’’ the statement read in part.

The speaker prayed God to grant the family and the Kano state government the fortitude to bear the loss.

Abdullahi called on Nigerians to embrace peace and tolerate one another at all times irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the overall development of the country. (NAN)
