Ibadan, July 6, 2017 (NAN) No fewer than 500 people on Thursday benefitted from free medical treatment offered by the 2 Div. Nigerian Army, Ibadan, to mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL 2017).
Lt.-Col. Samuel Adama, Commander 2 Div. Medical Services and Hospital, said this while addressing journalists in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the medical outreach of the 2 Div. Nigerian Army, the last activity of the celebration, took place at Olunlosin Village in Akinyele Local Government of Oyo State.
Adama said that apart from the free treatment, the people of the village were also enlightened on how to prevent HIV, Lassa fever among other dieseases.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries of the medical outreach received free drugs to treat their ailments.
Dental surgeons were also present to carry out surgery on people with tooth ache while those with sight problems went home with free eye glasses.
Members of the outreach also conducted HIV, malaria, high blood sugar among other tests.
Two of the beneficiaries of the outreach, Mrs Salamatu Kareem and Mr Taiwo Olabanji, commended the Army for the gesture.
Kareem said he had been battling with the tooth ache for long but could not go for treatment due to financial challenge. (NAN)
