Lagos, July 6, 2017 (NAN) For stealing a Honda Accord Saloon car valued at N1.5 million, a 24-year-old unemployed man, Chimobi Nwokem, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

He is to serve his jail term at the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons in Apapa, Lagos.

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, presided over by Magistrate B.O. Osunsanmi, slammed the punishment without an option of fine on the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence on Thursday.

“Based on the facts of this case, confirmed in the report and the plea of leniency, I hereby sentence you to seven years in prison without an option of fine,’’ Osunsanmi ruled.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Imhonwa, had told court that Nwokem, was residing at Shomolu, Lagos.

Imhonwa said that Nwokem stole a Honda Accord Saloon car valued N1.5 million on May 29 at about 11.15 a.m. along Berger Road at Anthony Village, Lagos.

He said that the convict broke into the car of one Mrs Abidemi Adetola, using a master key to open the door of the car where it was parked.
