Lagos, July 5, 2017 (NAN) Two employees, Hillary Sunday and Femi Faseemo, were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing their company’s brass rod valued at N500, 000.
The accused, Sunday, 27, a resident of Agbado in Ogun and Faseemo, 23, who resides at Fagba, in the Iju Area of Lagos State, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offence on June 23 at Ogba, Lagos.
He said that the accused persons conspired to steal their company’s property (Guinness Nigeria Plc), valued at N500, 000.
“The accused persons while on duty, stole the brass rod in the packages department,’’ he said.
“The accused were arrested by security guards when they wanted to escape with the brass rod. The brass rod was recovered,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Section 287 prescribes a three-year jail term for stealing.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offence and were granted N100, 000 bail each, with two sureties each in like amount.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.J. Awope, adjourned the case until July 31, for mention. (NAN)
