Lagos, June 28, 2017 (NAN) The Managing Director, Lagos State Water Corporation, Mr Muminu Badmus, on Wednesday urged the staff to be committed to its Performance Enrichment Programme (PEP).
Badmus gave the advice at the inauguration of the High Impact, Short Term, Quick Win Performance Enhancement Programme, IT and Newsletter in Lagos.
According to him, the programme is a tool intended to accelerate the transformation of the corporation towards meeting its aspirations, goals and objectives.
“The corporation has in the past employed a series of strategies to improve efficiency and increase revenue generation, but to no avail.
“That is why we have changed the approach and decided to partner with consultants who are well grounded and efficient in using modern business models to support our transformation journey.
“The model, PEP, will improve collection efficiency, as well as overall performance in the corporation,’’ he said.
Badmus said that the PEP was built around change in attitude, effective leadership and accountability framework that was result-oriented, people-focused and promotion of social responsibilities.
He said that PEP would focus on the maximisation of sales, improving collection rate, staff productivity, capacity utilisation and response time to customer complaints.
The Managing Director said the PEP would also reduce debt rate and water losses.
He said that to show that the management was committed to PEP, the Managing Director would sign a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Corporation’s Head of Business Streams and Regional Business Managers.
Others to sign the MOU with the Managing Director are the Regional Business Managers and Production Managers.
Also, he said that the Regional Business Managers would sign MOUs with regional managers and Zonal Team Leaders, respectively.
Badmus said that there would be performance-based allowances and a ground price to be given quarterly.
He said that the MOUs were commitments to effective service delivery to customers, improvement in revenue and operational efficiency.
Dr William Murhairwe, the Managing Director, 2ML Consulting, said that the PEP document was produced within three months by the staff themselves.
According to him, PEP focuses on achieving success now, with what is available.
He said that the management and staff were committing to working with what they had today, to achieve their targets.
William said that with PEP, there would be no room for failure, adding that the Consulting firm always partnered with organisations that wanted to improve their image and turnaround their operations. (NAN)
