Damaturu, June 22, 2017 (NAN)   Abdullahi Kukuwa, the lawmaker representing Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa Federal Constituency in Yobe, has handed over to Yobe government 10 boreholes to communities affected by insurgency.

The legislator handed over the boreholes to the government on Thursday in Damaturu while presenting food items to victims of insurgency in four local government areas in his constituency.

He said he donated the boreholes to improve water supply in communities where water facilities were vandalised by the insurgents.

Kukuwa also handed over a block of three classrooms and toilets constructed at Katarko Primary School.

He said the gesture was to ensure that returnee IDP children continue with their education, adding that Yobe government alone could not meet the needs of the people.

“We have to complement the efforts of the government to rebuild the communities,” he said.

The lawmaker also donated 500 bags of rice, 600 bags of maize and 3,000 cartons of Spaghetti to supplement food supplies donated by the government and NGOs to meet the food needs of the IDPs.

He commended the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies for reclaiming areas seized by the insurgents.

The legislator urged the people to use every opportunity at their disposal to engage in economic activities.

Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam, who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Lawan Shettima, commended the legislator for supporting government efforts to improve the lives of the people. (NAN)
