China, Ghana pledge to increase cooperation

Beijing, June 22, 2017 (Xinhua/NAN) China and Ghana on Thursday pledged to increase mutually beneficial cooperation between both parties during a meeting between Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao and Ghanaian Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in Beijing.

Li hail the traditional friendship between China and Ghana.

He said China is willing to take the Belt and Road Initiative and the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as opportunities to deepen bilateral friendly ties in the continent.

Li called on the two countries to strengthen political trust, advance people-to-people exchanges.

He called both parties to cooperate more in finance, infrastructure, industry capacity, equipment manufacturing, energy and mineral resources, agriculture and fisheries.

Bawumia said that Ghana attached great importance to its ties with China.

He said that Ghana is willing to increase cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the framework of FOCAC.

Prior to the talks, Li held a red-carpet ceremony to welcome the visiting vice president. (Xinhua/NAN)
