Chief Jide Adebayo, the 1st Vice-President of OGSSOBA told NAN that the road was being built at the instance of an old boy, Bishop David Oyedepo, Founder, Living Faith Church Worldwide.

Adebayo said the N30 million -project was part of activities to mark the school’s 50th anniversary, founded in 1967.

Adebayo said the 2-kilometre-road project was part of the ongoing N200 million projects embarked upon by the association to give their alma mater , a befitting  and  modern facelift.

According to him, each segment of the projects is being undertaken by the various sets that graduated from the  school between 1971 and 1994.

Adebayo said work on the road was expected to be completed in six weeks.

Adebayo, a former Executive Director of NAN, who graduated from the school in 1973, said the Golden Jubilee would hold in September.

“The contractors have been mobilised to site and by God’s grace, the road will be completed in six weeks.

“The association embarked on the projects as part of the old boys’ contributions to raise the standard of the school’s infrastructure as well as promote education and human capital development in the area,” he said.

He listed other ongoing projects in the school to include the renovation of blocks of classrooms, library, administrative block as well as the principal’s office.

Mr Olusegun Abifarin, the school’s principal, described the association’s intervention as unprecedented in the history of the school.

He praised the association members, especially Bishop Oyedepo, for being sensitive to the yearnings and aspirations of the students and people of the community at all time.

“It is on record that Bishop Oyedepo also employed some teachers, through his foundation, to teach some core subjects where teachers are lacking in some of the community schools,” Abifarin added.

The traditional ruler of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, described the association’s gesture as deserving and commendable. (NAN)
