Abuja, June 21, 2017 (NAN) The national swimming coach, Saheed Obadina, says he is optimistic Team Nigeria will win medals from the swimming events of the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, Bahamas.

Obadina told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that eight swimmers are already in camp, comprising four male and four female, in preparation for the Games.

He said the camp started with endurance training and physical fitness of the athletes.

“For now, we are in the specifics, focusing on speed techniques and building athletes on their individual events.

“We will participate in the 100m and 50m events of all stroke styles and in mixed relays,’’ the coach said.

Obadina assured that Team Nigeria would make Nigeria proud in the swimming events by winning as many medals as possible.

NAN reports that the Games is slated for July 19 to July 23.(NAN)
