Maiduguri, June 15, 2017(NAN) The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), said on Thursday that it provided free medical treatment to 900 victims of Boko Haram attacks between 2015 and now.

Dr Bashir Tahir, Chairman of the UMTH Medical Advisory Committee, made the while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Tahir also said that the treatments were provided in collaboration with the Victims Support Fund (VSF).

“The VSF had in 2015 provided N30 million to the hospital for free treatment of all victims of Boko Haram attacks, including bomb blasts, gunshot wounds and other forms of attacks.

“The idea is to remove any impediment to the treatment of any person who suffered attacks from the insurgents,” he said.

“Between 2015 and date, we have provided free treatment to 900 victims.

“This year alone, we have treated 300 patients”.

He commended VSF for the gesture, saying that it had helped, greatly, in saving many lives. (NAN)
