Representation
By Bushrah Yusuf-Badmus
Ilorin, June 8, 2017 (NAN) A group, Kwara North Women in Politics on Thursday canvassed for better representation of the female gender in leadership position in the state and the country.
President of the group, Alhaja Fatimah Yusuf told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that women needed not to take back seat in decision making in the country.
Yusuf said that there should be no hindrance to women vying for elective positions and holding sensitive political offices in the state and beyond.
”Our group came into being due to the need to reawaken the participation of women from Moro, Kaiama, Edu, Pategi, and Baruten in politics.
”We have no intention of competing with our fathers, husbands and brothers but to complement their efforts,” she said.
The president said that as part of encouragement for women, the group would aid the empowerment of the less privileged and widows in Kwara North and the state at large. (NAN)
