Lokoja, June 8, 2017 (NAN)‎ The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it will offer skills training to 1,000 unemployed youths in Kogi beginning from July.

Mr Haruna Yahaya, the NDE Public Relation Officer in Kogi made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Thursday.

Yahaya said that the directorate was still working on the modalities for the selection of participants.

He however said that those who would eventually be selected would undergo training in carpentry, tailoring, vulcanising, welding work, shoe making and saloon operation.

According to him, successful trainees would be offered start-up packs and working capital to set up their own businesses.

Yahaya stressed that the scheme was in line with the mandate of the directorate to support government in opening up employment opportunities to Nigerians. (NAN)
