Lagos, June 7, 2017 (NAN) An American carrier, Delta Air Lines,  on Wednesday said it was working with authorities in Nigeria and the U.S. to understand the new Executive Order signed by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

The airline said this following allegations that its officials had on Tuesday floated the presidential directive by insisting on physically examining Nigerian passengers before being allowed to board at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the executive order signed on May 18, is expected to ease doing business at Nigeria’s airports by streamlining the activities of various aviation agencies and airline officials.

NAN gathered that the Delta Airline officials also allegedly resisted the removal of the tables by its check-in counters by Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

However, the airline maintained that it was working closely with aviation authorities around the globe.

“Delta is actively working with both the authorities in Nigeria and the United States, to understand the new presidential directive and ensure we remain compliant with the respective authorities.

“Delta is subject to U.S. Government and Nigerian Government security regulations,’’ the airline said in a statement signed by its media consultant, Mr Mohammed Abdullahi, in Lagos.

It said that the safety and security of Delta’s Air line customers and crew was the airline’s number one priority. (NAN)
