Woman in court for allegedly stealing 2 cell phones

Abuja, June 6, 2017 (NAN) A 29-year-old woman, Zara Fatima, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing two cell phones worth N188,000.

Fatima, whose address is unknown, is facing a count charge of theft to which she pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 13.

The prosecutor, Fidelis Ogbobe, had told the court that the complainant, one Mr Aneh Terry of Lugbe, reported the matter at Garki Police Station on June 3.

Ogbobe said the complainant alleged that on same date, he and the accused drank beer together a pub along Lagos Street, Garki II.

He said that according to the complainant, the defendant stole his LG phone valued at N150,000 as well as his Nokia Lumia valued at N38,000.

Ogbobe said that the stolen phones, valued at N188,000 were yet to be recovered from her.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
